CONTENT:
This content-rich Web site offers timely educational materials for students and teachers, along with evolution-related features. It is a companion site to the seven-part PBS series Evolution but is comprehensive enough to easily stand alone.
AESTHETICS:
This professional site uses the latest technology, great graphics, and a pleasing variety of background colors to make it appealing. An assortment of plug-ins is required and can be downloaded at the site.
ORGANIZATION:
Content is organized into seven areas that are accessible from the front-page image map. The site is easily navigated with clearly marked links and a top menu bar with a link back to the Evolution home page. An on-site search tool is available.
REVIEW:
This interactive Web site has everything you ever wanted to know about the theory of evolution. It is a content-rich resource that includes streaming imagery, animations, simulations, dynamic time lines, conversations with experts, current news bulletins, and extensive links to evolution-related learning resources worldwide. A teacher's guide is available for educators to download or receive in print by request. A series of videos for teachers that were filmed in actual classrooms showcases a variety of strategies for teaching evolution. Student lessons that focus on essential questions and short videos that are sure to encourage discussion are available on the site. The collection of multimedia resources in the library is categorized by topic and can be searched by keyword.
