CONTENT:
Ocean Explorer from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is a rich oceanography resource for students and teachers.
AESTHETICS:
The layout is simple and user-friendly with high-quality photographs, video, and audio. QuickTime Player is required for video and audio and can be downloaded at the site.
ORGANIZATION:
The site is divided into eight major areas accessible from the top navigation bar or the bottom text menu. Visitors can also search the site by keyword, and there is a handy site index for quick reference.
REVIEW:
Did you know that only 5 percent of the ocean floor has ever been explored? Ocean Explorer is a comprehensive site from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) that provides information on its ocean exploration efforts. Students and teachers will find a wealth of information to enhance their study of oceanography. All of the Explorations, featured ocean expeditions, from the past year are covered in detail with the promise of new adventures to come. The Gallery is a click you won't want to miss! It houses stunning images, maps, video, and audio of the expeditions. Students can also learn about the history of ocean exploration, the various technologies used, and other related exploration activities and events. An extensive list of publications and historical documents are available in the Library for further research.
