App Name: Project Noah
Cost: Free
What does it promise? The Project Noah promises an educational experience for environmental, wildlife and biological concentrations in schools. It promises to allow users to become citizen scientists and document the wildlife that is around them.
“Our ultimate goal is to build the go-to platform for documenting all the world's organisms. By encouraging the mobile masses to document their encounters with nature, we're building powerful force for data collection and an important educational tool for wildlife awareness and preservation.” – Project Noah
Does it deliver? Yes. The app allows you to document animals, organisms and other forms of wildlife that you encounter on a daily basis. You are able to log in via one of your social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, Microsoft and AOL.
Once logged in, teachers and students can participate in some of the WILD Foundation missions that involve documenting certain species around them. It’s a great way for biology classes to take learning outside and become a part of a larger overall goal. Classroom accounts can be created for children under 13 so that they too can take learning to the outdoors.
Can I use it in the classroom? Absolutely. Teachers can take their students out of the classroom in order to learn and explore the outdoors. Project Noah is a simple and free app that is visually appealing and has a ton of educational value in the STEM space.
