Save the crossword puzzle as a template, so students can open the file and complete the puzzle without damaging the original file. To do that:

• Click File in the menu bar and then click Save As.
• To Save as type (Format in Mac), change the type from Excel Workbook to Template. Notice that the extension now is ".xlt" not ".xls," indicating that the file is saved as a template. (Make sure the file name is still USPresidentsPuzzle.)
• Save the file on a classroom computer, burn it to a disk, or place it on the server, so students can use it.
