iPad App Review: Molecules

App Name: Molecules

Cost:  Free

What does it promise?  Molecules shows a visual representation of a number of different molecules (DNA and insulin, to name two) that users can manipulate. The app offers a very cool look at a concept that might be hard for many students to understand.

Does it deliver?  Absolutely. Playing with the various molecules is addictively fun, and the visual representations are very clear and easy to use. The app only offers the one basic function, but it performs that function very well. Molecules comes pre-loaded with a handful of molecules, and more can be downloaded through the app.

Can I use it in my classroom?  You'll have a hard time getting students to pass the iPad on to the next student. This app teaches while offering an enjoyable experience.

All apps can be found in the iPad apps store under education.
