iPad App Review: Stitch

App Name: Stitch

Cost: Free

What does it promise?  Stitch allows users to create impressive video presentations in three to five minutes via their iOS devices. Users provide the pictures and text, and the app does the rest.

stitchDoes it deliver? Yes. There are other presentation-creation apps on the market, but none have Stitch’s unique blend of features. Users who would prefer not to start from scratch may choose from a plethora of templates native to the app.

Stitch also offers seamless integration with Web sites such as Google Images, so grabbing free-use images for your presentation is easy. If you happen to be in area devoid of WiFi or a cellular network connection, it’s no problem—Stitch requires neither of those things to operate at full capacity. Users can create, edit and save presentations by using the media already stored on their devices.

Perhaps the handiest feature of Stitch is its use of mp4s. While some other presentation apps use proprietary file formats, the presentations created via Stitch are saved in the universally accepted mp4 video format.

Can I use it in my classroom?  Stitch has many classroom applications. Students may use it to create a project, or the entire class can use its capabilities for an activity. Any lesson that involves a presentation or video can benefit from Stitch

All apps can be found in the iPad apps store under education.
