iPad App Review: Play at Home with Daniel

App Name: Play at Home with Daniel

Cost: $1.99

What does it promise?  Perfect for the early childhood classroom, this app lets younger learners share in some of Daniel’s everyday experiences, which are probably a lot like their own. As they play, young children will be learning about their place in the world.

Thesaurus RexDoes it deliver? Daniel is based on the character created by Fred Rogers, the original “Mr. Rogers.” Students can navigate through three game areas, learning how each of them applies to real life.

Doctor
Children play Doctor Daniel with the instruments that doctors use. When they pretend to be the doctor, they’re in charge. That can make it easier to cooperate when they have to be patients.

Bedtime
While students help Daniel get ready to go to sleep, they can be thinking about their own routines and the things that help them at bedtime.

In Daniel’s Bathroom
Everyone washes, brushes and flushes with Daniel and practices bathroom routines.

Can I use it in my classroom?  This app is great for the Pre-K and kindergarten set.

All apps can be found in the iPad apps store under education.
