iPad App Review: Color Find Lite

Share

App Name: Color Find Lite

Cost:  Free

Color FindWhat does it promise?  The Color Find app uses the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) method to support children with developmental disabilities, special education needs or autism. This is a scientifically validated approach to understanding behavior and how it is affected by the environment.

Does it deliver?  Yes, with a word of caution. This app is not a substitute for professional intervention. With that in mind, the app does offer benefits to children with learning challenges. The app is broken down into a three-step process: Training - In the Learn parts of each Learn & Play section, the picture of a color is displayed with voice prompt. Play – In the Play part of a Learn & Play section, each screen displays a visual prompt and distracters for a color. The child is expected to recognize the picture for the prompted color from the displayed options. Reward - Each correct response is rewarded with a fun animation.

Can I use it in my classroom?  Tailored for Special Education teachers, Color Find Lite is a solid addition to the intervention toolbox.

All apps can be found in the iPad apps store under education.
