iPad App Review: Bento

Share

App Name: Timeline Eons

Cost:  $9.99

What does it promise?  This app promises to organize contacts, track projects, plan events and manage things—all in one easy-to-use iPad personal database.

It is essentially an in-depth personal organizer that provides integration of media files and other interactive elements into the user’s schedule.

bentoDoes it deliver? Yes, but at a steep cost. Bento is a brilliant personal organizer, and its features are a perfect fit for professionals in the education field, but at $9.99 it should add considerable value to the iPad’s native calendar app.

That said, Bento’s features are impressive. A sampling includes:

  • 25 ready-to-use, customizable database templates
  • In landscape view, a split screen showing a records list and a single record’s details
  • Ability to swipe up or down to see more details for each record
  • Voice-memo recording, video and photo viewing, and email capabilities
  • Ability to browse Web links in Safari without leaving Bento
  • Full-screen viewing of Adobe PDFs stored in media fields

Can I use it in my classroom?  From scheduling tests and quizzes to organizing field trips and class projects, Bento is up to the challenge.

All apps can be found in the iPad apps store under education.
