Celebrate Women's History Month!

Each March, Education World recognizes women's history month with new classroom teaching resources. This year, we're excited to bring you several valuable tools -- including a Women's History WebQuest, Women of the Century.
This WebQuest will challenge your students to work cooperatively as they create a women's history encyclopedia to supplement outdated and sorely lacking textbooks!

Also this week:

Creating a WebQuest: It's Easier than You Think!
Not sure what WebQuests are all about? Read this story, a virtual WebQuest 101, which explains these widely talked-about and used Web-based activities!

In addition, don't miss this week's CURRICULUM story, Kids Fill the Gap in Women's History!
In this story, you'll meet the teachers (and some of the kids) behind three wonderful student-created online resources for teaching about women's history.

And, of course, this week teacher Walter McKenzie reviews ten great sites for teaching women's history in this week's installment in our Great Sites for Teaching About…
series. And be sure to read our review of a new book, Outrageous Women of the Renaissance.

Looking for additional women's history resources?

Take a look at the stories we offered last March!
  • Women of Accomplishment: An Internet Scavenger Hunt
Neglected for years, the historical contributions of women are celebrated in this online scavenger hunt. Supplement your textbooks with the other half of history!

  • Women's History Gets its Due on the Web
Often overlooked by historians, women have contributed to the development of national and international societies just as men have. Why should you turn your attention to women of the past? Their stories may encourage young girls in your classes to make their mark on the history of tomorrow!

  • New Book Provides Answers to Kids' Questions about Women's History
Author Sue Heinemann presents succinct, informative, and interesting answers to more than 400 questions about women in American history in a new book for readers ages 9-14!
