State Launches ‘Thank a Teacher’ Campaign Ahead of Teacher Appreciation Week

The Virginia Lottery in partnership with the Virginia Tourism Corporation and the Virginia PTA has launched its “Thank a Teacher” campaign with a goal of thanking as many Virginia teachers as possible during a week which celebrates those who help shape the future of our children,” according to the Virginia Lottery’s website.

'There may not be enough words to truly express gratitude for all they do, but we challenge you to try,” the site says.

In addition to compiling notes and words of gratitude for the state’s teachers, the Virginia Lottery is also giving teachers a chance to win some relaxation time through a Virginia-themed vacation.

First prize includes an option of three different get-a ways; one is for beach lovers, one is for mountain lovers and the final option is for wine-lovers. Each package includes 3-night 4-day stays and are valued at $5,000 retail.

Second and third prize winners will win $500 or $250, respectively.

Educators are automatically entered into the contest when state residents submit their thank you note. The entry form can be found here.

Virginia’s Thank a Teacher campaign is an early start to the upcoming Teacher Appreciation Week (May 2-6).

For residents who want to add a more personal thank you than a digital submission allows, participating PTA chapters will have postcards and select Virginia Lottery retailers will have note-writing stations.
