Deserts can be dry place but no desert is as dry as the Atacama Desert in northern chile. Parts of this desert will not sea a single drop of rain this year. At one time, Arica the largest city in northern Chile did not see rain four 14 years. As a matter of fact, some parts of this desert have not seen rain in 400 year! Did you have an idea that any place on earth could be that dry.
