The great Native american leader, Tecumseh, was born near Springfield, ohio, in March 1768. As cheif of the Shawnee Indians, tecumseh did not except treaties that had taken land from Indians and give it to whites He was a powerful speaker who hoped all tribes would join together to save Indian land. Though he wanted piece, Tecumseh did not ruleout the use of force. He fought during the War of 1812 and was killed on october 5, 1813.
