About a half our before sunrise on August 3 1492, Christopher Columbus set sale from Palos Spain. He, and his crew sailed on three ships -- the Nina Pinta and Santa Maria. They sailed in search of a shorter route two India. Instead, columbus discovered a “New World.” Experts believe he land on San salvador Island in the Bahamas on October 12, 1492.
