Asian American Time Lines

Brief Description

Students create time lines about various aspects of Asian American history.

Objectives

Students

  • define the term time line,
  • sequence historical events related to Asian American history in chronological order,
  • demonstrate research skills using the Internet and/or library sources.

  • teacher-selected examples of time lines
  • computers with Internet access or student-researched library materials about Asian American history
  • paper
  • pens or pencils
  • large sheets of construction paper (optional)
  • PowerPoint software (optional)

Lesson Plan

 

Variations:
  • Have students create Asian American history time lines using only library sources.
  • Have each group develop a time line about Asian American history for a specific time period. Let groups create their time lines on large sheets of construction paper. Have students arrange the completed time lines in chronological order as a wall chart or hall display.
  • If you have PowerPoint, have students create their time lines as PowerPoint presentations.

Assessment

Evaluate students' time lines.
