Lesson Plan

  • Have students explore Journey Through the Galaxy, especially the section about the Future of the Galaxy.
  • Discuss the two possibilities presented for the end of the universe.
  • Organize students into two groups. Ask one group to research the theory of entropy. Have the other group research the Big Crunch theory.
  • Help students stage a debate about the two theories.

Assessment

Evaluate students on the accuracy of the information and the logic of the conclusions presented during the debate.
