Students create travel brochures to sell the concept of space travel to tourists.

Objectives

Students explore the problems and possibilities related to future space tourism and use their writing and artistic skills to create advertising brochures.

Materials Needed

Print and online resources about future space travel, such as:

Lesson Plan

Note: Students can work on this activity individually or in small groups.
  • Invite students to explore a variety of resources related to tourism in space. Encourage them to consider the various problems associated with civilian space travel as well as the factors that might influence people to choose to risk such travel.
  • Have students create travel brochures designed to encourage civilians to plan vacations in space.

Extension: Students might plan their own vacations in space.

Assessment

Evaluate students on the content and quality of their brochures.
