Lesson Plan

Ask students to visit River Roads and read about the Mississippi River and some of the states it flows through. Point out that the site is not yet complete and includes information about only three states [set DASH] Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa. After students have explored the information provided for those states, arrange them into seven groups and assign each group one of the remaining states along the Mississippi River -- Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Have students create a report about their assigned state, providing the same types of information provided for the other three states.

Assessment

Evaluate students based on the information provided in their reports.
