What advice would you give to a new or struggling teacher?

Love what you do. Be organized. Take inventory of your students' learning styles early in the year and use that to form your groups and lessons later on.

What’s the nicest thing a student or colleague has ever done to help you?

Listen to my venting on days that seem to not go right.

If you weren't a teacher, what would you be doing?

I can't see myself doing anything else. I love what I do and making a difference in the lives of these little people.

What is the most challenging part of teaching?

Politics.

My best day in the classroom was when…

my students lead the lesson with their learning. When we work in goups it's awesome watching each student encounter their own personal "aha!" moment.

Something that always gives me a good belly laugh is...

my daughters. They always manage to take any situation and turn it into a funny happening. They can always see the silver lining in anything.

What’s your secret snack indulgence?

Chocolate, any.

What TV show are you most embarrassed about loving?

"Without a Trace."

What was the last (non-academic) book you've read?

"Kings of the Earth"
