What or who inspired you to become a teacher?
While growing up, I realized that I loved children and thought teaching would be a good way to nurture it.
How are things different for you now, compared to when you first started teaching?
It's not that different, although because the parents' involvement was better, the children cared more.
What advice would you give to a new or struggling teacher?
I would tell them to be themselves. Also, keep abreast of teaching trends and resources.
My best day in the classroom was when…
Most of my students passed the national exam.
The best compliment I've ever received from a student or parent was...
"You really sparked a desire for learning."
What's your favorite part of the school year?
The end of the year, as it's the time when I reflect on the transformation my students underwent.
What is your one must-have item for the classroom?
A library.
What do you eat for breakfast on school days?
Grits and corned beef.
What movie or TV show do you secretly love?
"Bones."
