The National School Climate Center's annual three-day Summer Institute, "Promoting Safe, Healthy, Engaged and Democratic K-12 School Communities," will be held July 12-14, 2011 in New York City. Presented by NSCC and City University of New York's School of Professional Studies, the event brings together educators, district and state leaders, researchers, policy-makers and parents from across the nation to support the development of school climate improvement plans that promote safe, caring and civil schools.
Participants will attend workshops, hear from experts, and access networking sessions that provide the practical strategies and up-to-date knowledge needed to create a safe and supportive environment for learning. This year's keynote is Kevin Jennings, Assistant Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Safe & Drug-Free Schools.
The event will feature three unique strands focused on building-level teams, district teams and state education teams. To learn more and to register, click here.
