What is it?  Building Decision Skills helps students explore ethical questions while building positive character and key values. The program consists of 10 lessons with accompanying classroom materials. Teachers deliver instruction through small-group activities, class discussion and homework assignments. The program also includes schoolwide components (e.g., assemblies) and can be combined with service learning (community-service projects tied to classroom lessons).

How well does it work?  Building Decision Skills,when combined with service learning, had “potentially positive” effects on students’ knowledge, attitudes and values. This means that at least one study showed a statistically significant or substantively important positive effect.
