Looking Forward
To Monday Morning

I love quotes. I collect quotes. I am
addicted to quotes. I have an entire file
cabinet that holds them, and I have moved
that cabinet to three different states over
the years. To ensure that the thousands of
wonderful, inspirational thoughts in this
cabinet do not eventually end up in the
recycling bin, I decided to share my very
favorite, most appropriate quotes with you.

Diane Hodges

An award-winning educator, highly acclaimed speaker, and bestselling author, Dr. Diane Hodges' weekly Looking Forward to Monday Morning columns present a wealth of ideas administrators can use to drive staff members happy!

Diane is a frequent speaker at national and state conferences, including those of the national principal associations (NAESP, NASSP). In high-energy, humorous sessions, she unleashes dozens of ideas for promoting staff recognition and appreciation and for creating a climate of fun in the workplace. In addition, schools and school districts frequently call on Diane to share ways in which staff members can create more fun and appreciation for one another… in just minutes a day.

Diane is the bestselling author of Looking Forward to Monday Morning, Looking Forward to MORE Monday Mornings, Quote This!, Laugh Lines for Educators, and Grin and Share It! -- all published by Corwin Press.

You can learn more about Diane, purchase her books, or book her for a presentation in your school or district at dianehodges.com.

I choose quotes carefully, then add them to memos, bulletin boards, paychecks... anywhere that I know they will be seen. I often wish that a certain quote had an illustration accompanying it that I could use in a presentation or to post in the lounge.

Here are a handful of my very favorites. Feel free to post them on the teacher's room wall, scribble them on the bathroom mirrors in the teacher's restroom, or use them in an upcoming newsletter:

"There is no word in the language I revere more than teacher. My heart sings when a kid refers to me as his teacher, and it always has. I've honored myself and the entire family of man by becoming a teacher."
~ Pat Conroy, from Prince of Tides

"Schools will change more in the next 30 years than they have since the invention of the printed book."
~ Peter Drucker

"Whoever first coined the phrase you're the wind beneath my wings most assuredly was reflecting on the sublime influence of a very special teacher."
~ Frank Trujillo

"He who dares to teach must never cease to learn."
~ Richard Henry Dann

"Education is the most important profession because through the hands of educators pass all professions."
~ Unknown
