Tech in the Classroom: TrekDesk Treadmill Desk

What is it?  The TrekDesk is treadmill desk/workstation that enables the user to exercise while working.

How does it work?  The TrekDesk is a raised workstation (72 inches long by 34 inches wide) that is set above a treadmill, enabling the user to work—including type and talk on the phone—while walking. (The treadmill operates at low speeds.) The workstation’s legs are adjustable for people between 5 feet 4 inches and 6 feet 4 inches tall.

How hard is it to use?  The desk is easy to use, though its estimated set-up time is between 45 and 60 minutes.

How well does it work?  The concept of working while in motion may seem novel to most. But the TrekDesk works very well, particularly for those seeking a change of pace during the workday, or those who do their best work while moving.

How do I use it in the classroom?  While TrekDesks may not be practical in a classroom setting, they could be useful for administrators looking to stay in shape while setting an example for students.
